Back in January .... Making Marmalade

We all love marmalade. One of the things that is really important to me, is that the girls will take in their stride the things I had to struggle to learn. That the rhythm of the seasons will come naturally to them, and the day to day tasks of farm and life will be to them like breathing.

And in January, that means marmalade. Slicing the peel, scraping the pith, pouring the juice, and putting the pips and pith into a muslin bag, to provide pectin for the set.

It gives me great joy, that my older daughter relishes marmalade time, and could honestly have made the 18lbs we put away on her own. Only I enjoyed doing it with her.
